about

Jon Phonics, a London-born, Brooklyn-based DJ and producer, is celebrated for his diverse musical approach. He has spearheaded record labels like Astral Black, home to artists such as Shy One, SusTrapperazzi, and Drae Da Skimask, and manages Scenic Route, a label responsible for discovering talents like Nourished By Time and Lunch Money Life. As a radio host on Peckham's Balamii Radio, he showcases his eclectic taste with guests ranging from Children Of Zeus to Novelist.

His latest project, 'Say Less,' marks his return to production, echoing the sounds of 90's NYC with inspiration from DJ Shadow's 'Entroducing' and DJ Krush's 'Meiso.' Following recent production work for artists like Fools Gold's Chris Crack, CRIMEAPPLE, Manga St. Hilaire and Murkage Dave, 'Say Less' was meticulously crafted entirely on his MPC 1000 using vinyl samples sourced from within New York City, with production, mixing, and mastering completed in January 2024.
